Rocky’s Rescue part 2

Tuesday, April 19, 2022  Rocky has had challenges since the day he was born. If you remember, that was the most difficult birth ever at Blue Moon Ranch. That story is here.  Last fall Rocky followed his brothers across the creek but then decided he couldn’t make it back across. That story is here. He’s had other challenges along the way but is a sweet alpaca and he’ll stay with us and his brothers forever.  The four of them are days apart in age and quite a bonded group.

Well yesterday he did a repeat of the creek story. He follows the brothers over there, and then is afraid to come back!  Ed to the rescue again, and this time Juno tried to help too. She is becoming very bonded to the herd and desperately wanted Rocky back with the others. I made a little video to share the fun.  Hope you enjoy it.

My youngest granddaughter wants an alpaca. They have 5 acres… But all wooded…. So probably not.

Wooded acres might work, as long as it’s fenced and the trees are not toxic. But a single alpaca will be miserable without herdmates. 3 is minimum, 4 is better, all of the same sex.

Juno’s attention was almost as touching as her joy when he made it back to safety. What a special girl. I need a Juno to watch out for me! ❤️❤️❤️

Seriously, watching Juno and her reaction to the whole thing was my favorite part. She is more bonded to the herd than any other guardian we’ve had and it’s so heartwarming. ❤️ And yes you do need a Juno.
