Vole hunters convention

Friday January 26, 2024  We enjoyed a sweet visit from family this week and our pups enjoyed having another doggo around to join in the vole hunting activities.  It seems the voles are having quite the winter here with the big white dogs missing from the pastures so I really don’t mind when the house dogs go “hunting”. Added benefit – they are all so exhausted when they come inside it’s wonderful!  ha.

I love seeing a big white dog in the pasture again, even if only for a few days. If you want to know how she ended up with our kids, you can read the post here

Drama in the cat house. It seems the raccoons and skunks figured out there was a buffet offered regularly there. ugh. I started to put all the food in a container overnight but those raccoons are smarter than you might think. They unscrewed the top of the container with ease. Racoon 1, Yaya 0.  So I added a very heavy metal dolly to the top of the container. No problem, they removed that too and pushed it to the floor. Raccoons 2, Yaya 0. Last resort, I now have moved all food into the garage and carry it over each morning after the night time varmints have retreated. It would have been so much more convenient to have the food near the cats but walking through the snow carrying bowls of cat food is not the hardest winter chore I’ve had so I guess I’ll carry on. I think the score is even. 😁

Getting excited to meet our newest grandson in a few months. Due date April 19. Her OB/GYN is closer to us than to them, so they come visit when seeing the doctor. Lucky us!

Stay warm out there and thanks for checking in!

Non stop fun for the puppers here.

Not only did they cook a lovely dinner for us, they did so wearing alpaca hats that I made!  Note the baby bump!  Life is good.

I think I’ve told you before how much your kids’ dog looks like our first LGD, an Akbash Dog named Biff. He was the best guardian, but not a people loving dog, though he was never mean. I love seeing photos of your son’s big white dog. It’s like seeing Biff again! 🙂

I do remember that Lana. I sure do miss our big white pups. Cheers to all the big white dogs who worked so hard to keep their charges safe. 🐾

A question from a non- dog person: do the dogs play with the voles or eat them? I enjoy seeing the dogs but have limited experience. Cats play and eat.

Good question! It depends on the dog. Belle is all in for the hunt, but she won’t eat them. Banjo gobbles them up as soon as she drops them. eeeewwwww. 😁
