Wintering ❄️

Thursday, January 11, 2024  As storms blanketed most of the country this week, I’m reminded how very fortunate we are this year. Yes our snow is piling up, but if the gates get buried, it’s no big deal this winter. We’re watching for footprints of wildlife visitors and I’ve set up the trail cam to see what I can see, but we are fortunate in that we don’t have to go out if we don’t want to. 🙏  So far, it’s just racoon and skunks, although our family scat expert (youngest son) insists he saw bear scat with lots of seeds on the new property. I’m way more convinced about the skunks especially after the house dogs tried to convince one not to take up residence under the front porch!  Pewwwww!  We’ve also learned the barn cats can no longer have free choice food available in their new “cat house”. Racoons were quite well fed for a day or two before I starting hiding all cat food overnight.  I watched them on the trail cam remove the top to the 5 gallon bucket I stored the cat food in and they had quite a party!

I’m trying to get myself motivated to spin yarn from last year fleeces and knit more hats, get my online store rolling but I’m feeling tired. I read these words from Donna Ashworth yesterday and they rung true so I’m sharing them here.

So here’s to wintering!  We will feel re-energized soon. Enjoy your rest and as always thanks for checking in.

Photo of the day:  Watching snowflakes with your bestie is a good plan for a snow day.

Asia I hope you are enjoying your first Minnesota winter!  #memories

We haven’t seen that weather since moving to Texas but my husband is flying right into it for business! 🙏🙏 Stay safe!

Texas! I didn’t realized you had moved there! I think our winter is just getting started here, grateful that we are not hauling hay in blizzards this year!
