Practice gratitude.

Tuesday, December 5, 2023 I wanted to pop in and say thanks for the orders in the online store and to connect with my dear followers….that’s you!  ❤️  I’m keeping busy with things that make me happy and always looking for things that make me grateful.  It’s funny, I know friends who have decided for one reason or another to get out of the alpaca business and pretty soon they just go on with their lives and it’s no big deal. But I’m still reeling from it and have to work on my attitude every day. Two and 1/2 months ago the girls left and two months ago the boys and dogs left and I still find it so hard to look at those empty barns and pastures.  But I am getting better. Always practice gratitude.

I’ve also rekindled my love of baking with sourdough. My daughter gave me some of her starter (mine was beyond resurrection) and I’ve been baking a loaf of bread every other day. So good! It was one of those things that was hard to schedule while outside caring for the animals every afternoon. Luckily Farmer Ed loves fresh bread, and it’s one of those things that can make a boring dinner seem special.  Sourdough is a fussy thing at times but once you figure it out, it’s a healthy way to bake.

Be good to yourself and thanks for checking in.

Photo of the day: A cheerful mess? The boxes under the lamp are orders going to the PO today. Newspapers scattered on the table, one dog snoring on the sofa but what a view to be grateful for, right?

One of my earlier attempts at sourdough bread.

They’re getting better! This one was the best.

My sourdough starter is also beyond resurrection. Maybe next week I’ll try to start my own starter and begin again. In the meantime, I’ve gone back to yeast!

Fresh baked bread is sooo yummy!

I think they both look yummy! And the Christmas decorations are gorgeous. A beautiful room there too.

Beautiful, inviting photo of your lovely room. And the bread looks so scrumptious!
I still miss the alpacas and dogs from afar and think of you so often hoping each day gets easier! They own a big chunk of your heart… ♥️

Thanks Brenda. I miss them all too. It is getting easier, but I still have tears hiding behind my smiles. As the snow piles up I’ll remember why we had to do this.
