Fall shadows and a special gift

Saturday, October 28, 2023  We had our first snow this week, and as you might guess it’s all melted now. Just a little nudge from Mother Nature to remind us that time is running out to get those outdoor chores done. Although the urgency is different this year. I do plan to relocate the barn cats to one of the outbuildings closer to the house, so feeding them in the winter won’t require a hike to the barn. I do fret a little about the cats now that the big white dogs aren’t here to protect them. The outbuilding I’ll move them to has a cut out cat door, so any big predators couldn’t get to them.

I received a very sweet gift in the mail this week, an oil painting of our Marigold!  Isn’t it perfect? See photo below. Thanks Susan for the heartwarming gift.

People ask how am I doing?  Well just when I think I’m OK, I’m not. We met an old friend when we were out having dinner last night and he mentioned how quiet the ranch was when he stopped in last weekend when we were out of town. That was all I needed to unleash the tears again. But It’s time to face the new reality, stop going on these little trips that change my focus and try to find my joy again. I do have some lovely bags of alpaca roving to get me started. ☺️

Thanks for checking in.
