We did it again

Sunday, June 11, 2023. Shearing day 2023 is behind us. yay! The forecast promised us rain at noon, but by some magic it held off until we were finished shearing the last alpaca. And even then it was only a few drops. Our fabulous crew of helpers made the work go smoothly and all the fleeces were carefully wrapped and are waiting in the fleece shed. Soon I’ll open them and make decisions on making them into yarn or roving, and some will be offered for sale. But today we rest! Many thanks to all who came and helped with shearing day 2023. We couldn’t have done it without you!

I’m glad that everything went smoothly. It’s always a stressful day. Our shearing day is this coming Saturday. I hope that everything goes as smoothly as yours did.

Thanks Jen. I’m so glad it’s over!

I thought you always did your shearing in April! Good luck on Saturday!

I usually shear in April, but the gates were buried in snow, like yours were. Such a long, cold winter. Luckily it’s been a cooler Spring and my alpacas have done ok waiting this long. All’s well that ends well. 😁

It was a winter to remember! This spring is unusually cool and wet too. We had a few of our older ones shivering today. Saturday weather looks perfect! Good luck.
