Yes sir, yes sir, 3 bags full

Wednesday, October 19, 2022  Do you remember the nursery rhyme, “Baa, baa, black sheep, Have you any wool? Yes sir, yes sir, Three bags full. One for the master, One for the dame, And one for the little boy who lives down the lane”?  Well I cannot get that darned rhyme out of my head whenever I see 3 bags of fiber.  ha.   But the point is we do have much more than 3 bags of lovely soft alpaca roving that is perfect for spinning or felting.  When I first decided to learn to spin I was advised not to spin alpaca. But since that was all I had I ignored the advice and I’ve been happy spinner ever since. So don’t be afraid to try it!  Personally I have a much harder time spinning sheep’s wool.   Have a good Wednesday!

Happy that you followed your inner self and not the advice of whomever told you not to spin the lovely alpaca shearings.

Beautiful roving!! I learned to spin, but never did it very well. I blame it on having too many kittens taking up my time. But I loved learning how yarn was made, as before alpacas, I’d never really thought about the process. Machines just mimic what people have done with spinning wheels for centuries. Now my wheel is part of the living room decor, with the driving band missing due to some kitten way back when… I bet your handspun yarn is beautiful with all those colors.

Thanks Lana. I have friends who spin fine and consistent yarn and it’s beautiful, but I actually prefer my lumpy bumpy chunky stuff that looks like I’m a beginner spinner! lol PS A drive band is easy to replace ya know. 😉
