Pie and Beer day?

Sunday July 24, 2022 If you live in Utah like we do, you know that today is a holiday, or is it, since it’s Sunday and Utah does not generally celebrate holidays on Sundays.  Hmmmmm.  But for the rest of the world it’s just another Sunday in July and you might wonder what the fuss is all about.  Well, today commemorates the entry of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847.  Since Pioneer sounds a bit like Pie and Beer, it’s also called Pie and Beer Day.  😀 I’ll let you guess which one we will be celebrating. I think most of Utah actually celebrated yesterday and I suppose there will be spillover into Monday.  Our house is quiet this morning since some of the family went to Yellowstone for a few days and the rest went back to their Utah homes. They’ll all be back here in a few days so don’t worry about us being bored. lol

Photo of the day:  Sweet ranch rainbow appeared when everyone was here.

Gorgeous rainbows. Did you get rain along with those dark skies?

We did! Not enough to dampen the fun but enough to send all the alpacas looking for shelter in the barn. More rain today. yay!

Pie and Beer! Love it! You have green fields! Ours are brown as we’ve not had enough rain lately to keep things green. So we are hoping for rain too. We need it for the second cut of hay for winter!! Love that rainbow. What a shot!!

Thanks, Lana. We are lucky enough to live in the “Woodland River Bottom” where much of the land is sub-irrigated, the water is still flowing under the ground. It’s almost spongey in parts and helps us stay green. We also have water rights that allow us to irrigate. But rain is the best and we’ll take all we can get! Hope you get some too!
