Fresh snow and more mud 🐾

Tuesday, May 31, 2022  Well, that 4 day weekend definitely brought moisture. The mountains have fresh new snow and we got a good soaking with rain and even snow here too. No worries about overheating alpacas with temps below freezing either.

I also found out yesterday that our shearing date has changed to June 11, which is better for the alpacas of course, but I had a nice plan all set for the following weekend. And we have tickets for the Scottish festival that day that I’ve been planning on for a year.  ugh.   But plan B is going to work out fine and most of our helpers have been flexible too. Sometimes you have to just go with the flow and expect the best. So I will. Have a good Tuesday.

Photo of the Day: Juno had a grand time finding more mud this weekend.  Here she is enjoying her favorite meal of beaver meat, with me feeling glad she doesn’t need to come in the house!

She’s getting to be more and more of a water dog! Just like Blue. They sure do have fun here.

Omg Juno!! Lucky that livestock guard dogs seem to just be able to self-clean in a short time!! Glad your animals are getting cold weather. We’ve had very hot weather for May, but things are cooling off for this week. Shearing always takes precedence but I wish our shearer gave more notice. He usually tells us the night before he comes. Good you had a Plan B! Does the Scottish Festival last more than just a day? They are so much fun.

Once the sun comes out, the self cleaning magic should work. I agree with needing notice for shearing. We can get the barn and bags and labels ready but our helpers all have busy lives and we’re so lucky this change is going to work out for most of them. Now we have to hope it doesn’t change again!
If we are not too pooped I think we can visit the Scottish Festival on Sunday. 😊
