Wednesday Ramblings

Wednesday, May 4, 2022   Of course I am outraged at the “draft” of what the Supreme Court is doing, but I find the weather to be a more appealing topic for my blood pressure.  As I’ve said before you don’t land on this page for a political commentary so I won’t go there. If you do love political commentary however I suggest you read daily summaries from Heather Cox Richardson, a brilliant writer who has kept many of us sane during these challenging times. I don’t know about you but I’ll trust a Harvard Educated PhD before I trust Uncle Billy Bob and his ideas. She sends a letter every day to my inbox and has for years. Try it here. It’s free. Hit the subscribe button if you want to get her emails every day.

But back to the weather and my simple farm life.  When we add some hay to the feeders, I try to decide if we can put it outside,(which the alpacas prefer)  or do the wagons need to be in the barn protected from weather.  I looked at the clouds, photo #1 and decided they’d only have their hay under covered areas and photo #2 shows I made the right decision. Alpacas can get wet from snow and shake it off, hay doesn’t recover as well. And with the cost of hay this year I don’t want to lose any of it.  And it’s still snowing here. Happy Wednesday!

Photo of the Day: The clouds warned of more moisture coming last night.

Alpacas are used to it now and went out to graze early this morning.

My sister turned me on to Heather Cox Richardson’s email letters. Love reading her stuff and the history she always ties to current events. Our alpacas help my blood pressure too. (It’s been way too high the last few days.) Our alpacas don’t like rain, but will go out in the snow too. Tho I think we have seen the last of the snow around here.

Heather Cox Richardson is brilliant isn’t she? I love the historical angles she shares. Enlightening and sometimes frightening.
