And the cat says…..

March 28, 2022    The pastures here were very well established in old river bottom soil so they were able to put up with years of alpaca wear and tear. Every year I would broadcast some new pasture grass seed and spread the composted beans that the alpacas so generously share with us. But years take their toll and we had to give this pasture a rest. The new plan is to keep the alpacas off their favorite main pasture for at least 2 months to let the grass recover from over grazing. That was the fencing that we finished yesterday. The girls are not happy about this new plan but within a week, they’ll be over it. And once we let them back on it, they will be happier than ever.  The new fencing cramps the previous path of our private tours so it will take a bit of time to figure that out. That’s part of why we need another month before we can open.  It’s all good!  Happy Monday!
