Barn Cats

posted in: Uncategorized | 4

Saturday, January 8, 2022  I know that some people who have indoor cats often think barn cats are neglected or have a rough life. And I certainly can’t speak for all barn cats but ours are much loved and doing just fine. They all have warm place to sleep if they choose it , they get fed every day and have their own heated water bowl.. They chase mice out of the hay barns and love to sit on my lap when I’m outside. One of them (Odin) just showed up here, one (Bogart) came from the local shelter, and one (Garbo) came from a neighbor.  Once the dogs accept the cats, they are protected and have a good place to call home.  Both Blue and Juno know our cats and consider them part of the family. Not a bad life at all.  Happy Saturday!

We had barn cats growing up and I can tell you they ARE loved. And their jobs are just as important as the guardian dogs and alpacas. Happy Saturday!

Awww thanks Kathie! I did visit a farm once where the farmer said he’d never feed a barn cat or they would do their job. 😢 Mine chase the mice because it’s fun not because I starve them!
