Blue in the Bog

posted in: Uncategorized | 10

Wednesday, May 5, 2021  We both held our breath as we opened the gate to the new property.  Will Blue find a way out? Will we spend the rest of the day chasing him all over Woodland? But he couldn’t find a way out that didn’t involve that dastardly white wire! (thanks Ed) And oh boy did he try. He found one spot in what we now call “the bog”  (thanks Richard for the great name) that seemed like he could dig under the fence – and this boy has no problem with mud as you will see. And I actually think he might have made it but I was watching him so I called Ed who brought another cattle panel over and blocked his potential escape. whew  He then thought he could convince Charlotte to test the hot wire for him but she was smarter than that. He tested all his old escape routes and found them all with new white wires attached. We could tell from the pace of his walking when he finally gave up on trying to find a way out. Wonderful! Oh the alpacas also had a wonderful time over there and I’ll share those photos with you tomorrow. Happy Wednesday, stay well~

Photos of the Day:  Why are you watching me?   ~Blue

After lots of digging, he decides to look for an easier way out.

At one point he tried to convince Charlotte to test that white wire for him. (she didn’t)

Then he went back for more digging at the weak spot in the bog.

Again mom, why are you watching me, don’t you have something else to do?   ~Blue

Back in the barn with a bone, we’ll call this a successful day.

He IS a smart one and your narrative is, always, hilarious! 😂

OMG he’s determined! Silly boy. I never understood why dogs ran away from a perfectly good home. We still have to tether our Bella out front. She loves to roam the neighborhood and ‘visit’.

I believe it’s because he thinks he needs to check out the neighborhood for potential problems. When he was escaping daily, he always came back in a few hours. A nightmare for us, but he thought he was just doing his job. ugh.

I love your blog. Always so funny. And Blue’s stories are so nice. How does the darling get clean again?

    Greetings from Wuppertal, Germany.

Thanks Sabine! The darling is almost white again this morning. His breeder called it a self cleaning coat. The mud dries and falls off leaving him pretty clean. Lucky for us! ha
