Bonded to the herd

Thursday, April 1, 2021   Beware of jokesters and pranks today! No jokes from me today so you’re safe here. 😁

It’s been interesting to watch Blue interact more with the alpacas. We want him to feel bonded, but also to have a good deal of respect for them. It’s a fine line, but for a 1 year old I think he’s doing well. Wisdom says that until a LGD (livestock guardian dog) is 2 years old they are really not capable of doing the job we hired him for. The next hurdle will be when our babies arrive this summer.  I know he won’t hurt them, but he might want to play with them.  Hopefully between me and the female alpacas we will convince him that’s not a wise choice. We shall see!

Happy Thursday! Stay well~

Photo of the Day: A sure sign that Blue is bonded to his herd – a kiss from Ramona. ❤️

How sweet!! I will keep my fingers crossed for when the babies arrive. Blue seems to be fitting in quite well and Ramona seems to think he is ok. I sure miss being able to come up and see everyone at the open houses. Hopefully soon we will all able to meet again.

He’s a sweet boy for sure and understands alpaca body language so I hope all will be well. Fingers crossed!
