Blue Monday?

Monday, January 18, 2021  Have you heard of Blue Monday?  Well I guess it’s today – the most depressing Monday of the year.  Personally I think it seems like more of a PR stunt to get you to buy things or book trips to warm sunny places. Mental health is not a one day event and it is a real problem these days. The pandemic numbers are so staggering I fear we’ve become numb to it. Just because we are weary from it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. As of Jan. 17, more than 23 million cases have been confirmed in the U.S. and there have been more than 390,000 deaths. Sobering. It’s why we are still closed and will be until it’s safe to reopen.  So what to do if you’re feeling blue?  Get outside, move around, breathe deeply and consider things to be grateful for. Sounds trite I know, but it’s the best advice I can give.  Hang on – better days are ahead!   stay well~

Oh, Linda! I feel your pain. With my restricted activities, I do a lot of kitchen window bird watching. Lots of Northern Cardinals, bluejays, bluebirds (they are early this year!), mourning doves, starlings (I love them), and more. And the squirrels and our resident Cooper’s hawk who scares everyone from the feeders. There is enough for all. I have also discovered a nearby Bald Eagle’s nest and yesterday found one roosting nearby. Always a thrill. My sister Patty and I had 2 trips planned for 2020 and we are hoping we can do them this year. Since I am over 70, my 1st vaccine is scheduled for January 29. And of course, I love receiving your daily updates with their messages of hope and joy. Thank you, Linda!

Thank YOU Gigi! For your kind words and your continued support. I miss Cardinals since we moved out west. They were my favorite bird when we lived in Illinois.
Good luck with the vaccine! We are also over 70 so we’re “in line” virtually with our county and waiting for an appointment.
