Melting snow, let’s go, and the Alpaca Cam

posted in: Uncategorized | 9

Tuesday November 17, 2020  It’s a perfect day for a testicle festival and all I need to do is move some fencing to create the surgical suite. No more snow expected until Thursday so I hope they’ll be fine by then. Fingers crossed.

About the alpaca cam – does anyone still try to look at it?  The streaming is such poor quality that I can barely stand to check it myself. It’s run on Flash which is old technology and soon to be unsupported by Adobe. We’ve invested thousands of dollars over the years in the system with multiple cameras, transmitters and receivers, but I’m not willing to spend any more money on old technology.  I’m considering just pulling the plug on it all unless I hear from people who still look at it. So let me know, or I’ll let it go.  Happy Tuesday – stay well~

I will admit I no longer view the cam. I rely on your wonderful daily updates for my Blue Moon Alpaca fix.

I also view your daily updates but on shearing day, I love to watch the action as my husband shears alpacas too but I can easily understand that spending more money on an old technology would be too expensive. I love your daily updates!

As it is right now, we won’t be able to use the cam to stream the shearing event anyway. Thanks for your input Louise!

Yep, I just view your daily updates as well. They give us much more of the story.

I’m a cam viewer. It helps me during my work day, but it is pretty bad right now and I can’t see that spending money on it right now is a good thing for you guys. Maybe bring it back at a later date?

If it worked well without flash I for sure would. But at the moment that doesn’t seem possible unless I want to remove the SSL certificate that I have to make the site secure. And I think it’s more important to have a secure site than a streaming cam for now.
