Charlotte’s story

Friday August 7, 2020  Most of our dogs have an interesting story on how they came to live with us. Charlotte is no exception. She had been listed on a Pyrenees Rescue site so of course I started getting messages about her from friends. I wasn’t sure we needed another dog at the time, but after I checked her out, I decided to give her a try. This was in October of 2015. She was in a pet home and not happy. Her owner said she needed several acres to run and a job to do. He didn’t tell me more than that. So I figured maybe she was running away? And maybe destructive in their home?  With rescues you often need to read between the lines. I’m glad they loved her enough to find her a better home and to this day I’m grateful that they put her up for adoption. So when she arrived I said I’d give her a one week trial and the guy agreed to pick her up in a week if it didn’t work out. Also, her name was Ginger, which was hard because we already had a Ginger labradoodle living in the house. We had to be sure she wouldn’t chase the chickens, or chase the crias, and would get along with the other guardian dogs. She did chase the chickens, ignored the crias but loved Chief and was OK with Abby. So maybe it could work? But the first day here, she kept jumping the fence. I called my animal communicator friend and she came to “talk” to the new rescue. What she told me was that this dog wanted to be called Charlotte and she kept leaving because she heard she only had one week here, so why stay?  What?  So I told “Charlotte” she was hired and will stay with us forever. Guess what? She never jumped that fence again, and is a valuable member of our guardian team. And she has answered to the name Charlotte ever since that first day.

Happy Friday and please stay well~

That is the face of a happy dog! We have a rescue that I do not understand most of the time, yet she has picked me as pack leader. When she has that happy and relaxed doggy face, I couldn’t be happier.
