Wednesday August 5, 2020 It’s foraging time and I make it a point to gather some herbs for the ranch each day. Mint, nettles, yarrow, mallow and clover grow abundantly here and they will make lovely tea this winter. I also love to add them to the medicine bundles of the spirit dolls I create. Since we use no pesticides, I feel good about using the plants and herbs that grow here. I know we’re in the heat of summer now but winter will be here before we know it so the idea is to gather while we can. I remember when I first discovered the wild mint growing here after we moved in and thought I had hit the jackpot! My grandson loves to gather it and then make mint tea for us all when he visits. (iced mint tea is so refreshing!) Alpacas will actually self medicate with appropriate herbs if they are available in their pastures. How cool is that? Grateful for this magical place that keeps me busy and sane. stay well~
