Monday August 3, 2020 As you might know, we have 2 puppies with very different jobs. Banjo the Berner is a goofy house pet and Blue the Pyrenees is in training to be a guardian dog for the alpacas. Yes, they are friends and play together on occasion. But most evenings, Banjo and Belle get to chase a tennis ball for a fun game of fetch as we toss if for them during our happy hour. Sometimes, Blue sits at the fence and watches, sometimes he is hanging out somewhere else with Chief and Charlotte. Playing fetch the ball, isn’t a Pyr thing. Chase the ball and kill it, yes. But bring it back to do the same thing over and over? That makes no sense to a Pyr. Well, I had one of Banjo’s tennis balls in my pocket when I was out with the alpacas and decided to give it to Blue. He loved it! Not to chase and bring back to me but to claim as his! He keeps it with his stash of bones from the cow that he’s been saving. And he learned that it will float if he tosses it in the creek. So funny. So Blue has a ball and he’s happy.
