Our not so little Baby Blue

posted in: Uncategorized | 4

Sunday May 17, 2020  He arrived 2 months ago, a tiny white ball of fluff. We had a safe place ready for him in the barn and had hopes that Chief and Charlotte would accept him to the guardian pack. He needed almost constant supervision those early weeks as he learned the property and how to act around alpacas. On April 28, we let him spread his wings and he was out unsupervised. In the past few weeks he’s shown us that he’s a perfect fit for the job here.  He runs to the fence with Chief and Charlotte at the sight of any intruder, but he loves people who are invited in. He’s respectful of the alpacas and most of them are respectful of him. And he’s BIG! Significantly bigger than Banjo (who is older) and growing more each day. Look out world, in a year or so, this will be one magnificent dog. We’re so glad he’s here to help the team of guardians at Blue Moon Ranch.

Some people who lived out on Whidbey Island Wa while we did used the same dog park we did. They had a pair of Pyrs they would bring to the park and there were not a more calm and gentle dog out there. I didn’t know their story, if they were retired from working or if they had been a breeding pair. I enjoyed watching them amble around and their owners would meet with other people with large dogs and they would walk through the wooded trails that adjoined the large open field of the park. I had an elder German Shepherd we were fostering for a family member and he preferred the Huskies rather than walking with the Pyrs. I’m so glad your Blue is taking his rightful place in your family.
