Feeding working dogs

posted in: Uncategorized | 2

Thursday February 20, 2020. It’s 14 below zero here this morning and that was not in the forecast at all. As soon as it’s light, I’ll bring the guardian dogs a bowl of warm water with a bit of meat in it.  I learned that trick when I watched some sled dog races. I was very curious how they fed these winter working dogs.  Right after the race they got warm bloody water with bits of beaver meat. They loved it. So I put a little bit of the meat that the dogs will have for their meal later, but they will be very happy for a bowl of warmth that I’ll bring out for them this morning. Later today they’ll get a big bowl of red meat from the butcher, 3 chicken drumsticks, homemade kefir, a bit of cooked rice, a topping made of salmon skin, pumpkin and blueberries with a dollop of yogurt on top. Lucky pups.  🙂

PS If you like the number 2 – today is your day. 2.20.2020. And our private tour today is scheduled for 2:00.

PPS If you have ordered dryer balls, I haven’t forgotten you, but we have had house guests all week and I will get to those asap.

Photo of the day: Chief is enjoying his new bed in one of his favorite hangouts. It’s actually a new crib mattress but it fits him perfectly!
