Rocky’s little problem

Monday September 16, 2019  Well I discovered an umbilical hernia on Rocky a few days ago and as I do with any problem I first observe and then decide if and how to react. We’ve had hernias in babies before but Rocky’s is a little larger than I’d like. His behavior seems to indicate he’s not in any pain, playing with his brothers and acting totally normal. Occasionally I noticed him lying on one side, but the other babies do that too. Yes, it could be surgically repaired but that’s not my first choice. Sometimes they close on their own, but because of the size (about as big as a lemon) I decided to try a wrap to hold the bulge inside his body until the muscle wall can close hopefully on it’s own. He cooperated nicely as I wrapped him and I checked at bedtime and it was still nicely in place, so the plan is to keep an eye on it for now. Good thoughts appreciated!

Photo of the day: I don’t think he minds at all. It might even feel better.

He’s a tough one! Hope he’ll be ok. It just looks like he’s ready for the dance with his cummerbund. Now he just needs a bow tie!! His fleece sure is pretty!!
