Baby Remy ❤️

Wednesday August 21, 2019 The entire herd including newborn baby Remy and his mom were in the shade of the barn enjoying the fan yesterday afternoon. And it’s going to be another hot one today so I’m grateful that Ava isn’t one of those mom who likes to keep her newborn away from the group for a while. Newborns can’t regulate their body temp well for at least 3 days and it’s a full time job keeping them in the right place until they can. I did try keeping Ava and baby in the barn yard area, but she gets too stressed being away from the herd, so back with the group they went. He didn’t gain any weight yesterday, which is normal for day 1, but I hope to see some kind of gain today. He was sluggish in the morning but perked up by evening. He’s refusing the bottle I offered so I know Ava is feeding him.  Feeding him and keeping him out of the afternoon sun is what Ava needs to do for now and it seems she knows that.  Happy Wednesday!

Photo of the day:   He might be tiny, but he thinks he can fly.  Sorry for the blurry photos – but it’s almost dark when I go out to put his little coat on. It gets into the 40’s overnight so yes he does need it.And his mama adores him.
