Waiting for summer

Monday June 10, 2019  Good morning faithful readers! We made a quick trip to Chicago for a wedding this weekend and it was beautiful indeed. Reconnecting with family is always the highlight of any trip to the Midwest. ❤️ It’s never easy pulling off travel when you have a farm with livestock but we are grateful to our ranch sitter for making it possible for us to get away when we need to. Thank you Beth.

27 degrees here this morning! Hard to believe we are approaching mid June! Wondering if I’ll ever be able to get some potted annual outside. So how are the alpacas when it gets this chilly?  Fine actually. They have had a week to adjust to having their fleeces off and they do have the barn to get into and out of any wind. They eat a bit more hay, but that helps keep their rumen going actively and that creates internal heat for them.

Photo of the day: I kid you not. Taken this morning.
