Tuesday August 7, 2018 An interesting thing happened after Claire was born and I forgot to share it. She was weak and struggling those first 2 days as you might remember. What I didn’t share was that she got help from her mom and her grandmother by means of “kisses”. There are times when after a cria is born that the mom will appear to be kissing it, and what she is actually doing is sharing the good bacteria from her rumen, seeding the babies gut with exactly what it needs. I have seen moms do this many times and I love to see it. But what I have not seen is for the grandmother to also do it. I’ll never know how much they helped her but I do know she made a good recovery. Thanks Madeline for helping your granddaughter!
