When someone dies, someone should cry

Wednesday July 4, 2018 Betty the barn cat who in her later years became known as Grandma Betty was a dear sweet cat. Somewhat feral when she first let herself be seen, she actually lived here before we did. She loved dogs and would snuggle with any of them that would allow it and even got Chief to agree to it once or twice. The first time she let me hold her was when Chief arrived in 2012 and he thought all our cats should be eliminated.  Betty allowed me to carry her from outside the gates safely to the cat pen so she could eat. I felt honored and eventually Chief learned that the cats were part of our family. Lately she had been getting thinner and thinner and losing interest in her food. I knew she was close to the end and as I carried her to her bed in the cat area Monday night I told her if she was ready to go, it was OK with me.  And I told her what a wonderful cat she was.  She died yesterday. And yes I cried. Someone should alway cry when someone dies and I was the one for Betty.

    Hi Linda:
I’ve enjoyed every little glimpse of sweet Betty over the years, as well as your wonderful photos. I’m sorry for your loss, but happy that Betty had the best life ever with you and your wonderful family, both furry and human. Reading your post definitely brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing.
