In praise of barn cats

Saturday March 24, 2018  We’re getting down to the last of the bales of hay we purchased in 2017.  The best part is there is no mouse damage.  I mean zero!  When we only had our “ancient” barn cats, Thelma and Louise, (and Betty who is still here)  the mice tore into so many bales I could have fed an extra alpaca every day with what was ruined. They even cut into the baling twine and generally made a mess of any hay stack.  Getting kittens is fun and I love them dearly but keeping the year’s supply of hay intact is the bonus!  Bogart and Garbo have fun every day jumping around in the hay stacks and scaring mice away. Win win! Of course I do feed them, and I feed them well. They go after the mice for fun, probably they eat one occasionally but there is always food in the barn for them. Are more kittens in our future?  Well it depends if you ask Ed or Linda. heehee

Photo of the day: Thank you Garbo for all you do. 🙂
