UPDATE July 12, 2023 At this time we are booked for any available dates this summer. If that changes, I will post a notice here. Thanks!

May 2023 We look forward to sharing the magic of Blue Moon Ranch and we are now scheduling private farm tours. This summer will be a busy one for us, so there will be dates we are not available for tours. Please send an email to linda@bluemoonranch.net to see if we have dates open to schedule a tour for your group.

Regarding pricing:  inflation hurts, I know.  Our hay costs have tripled, our fiber processing fees have increased and our shearing costs are up as well. But we have decided to keep our fees at last years rates again for now.  $25. per adult with a 4 adult minimum in your group.  Kids age 4 – 12 are $15. Under 4 free.  This was our rate last year and we had to turn people away because we were so busy with tours.

Please note: children must be kept under control by an adult at all times.

What’s included: Your tour will include a brief history of the alpaca, and then we will go into the pastures and have a chance to feed them and interact with the ones who enjoy that. This is when you can ask as many questions as you have. After sharing our lives with alpacas for 25 years we probably have the answers and some fun stories as well. Before the tour ends, we’ll go into Yaya’s Yarn barn and I’ll show you how I spin yarn from the alpaca fleece. Then you can browse in our gift shop for yarn and much more.

A $25 deposit paid by credit card will be required to hold your time. We request that ranch tours are scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.  Minimum group size is four adults, maximum group size 10. You can schedule a tour for your group by emailing linda@bluemoonranch.net.  We offer tours 2:00 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

We do not offer mini-tours, quick drop ins or short visits. Anyone who comes seems to end up staying for at least an hour anyway, so we prefer you schedule a full tour if that is your interest.  Thanks for understanding.

See FAQs about Farm Tours here

Please note: All visits are weather dependent. Heavy snow, rain or temps below 20°F  might have us reschedule.

Cell phone reception is not reliable at the ranch.  Text 801-898-0145 or email linda@bluemoonranch.net for quickest reply. Text and email gets through to our phones while calls often do not. I do not always carry my phone with me, so a reply to your inquiry might be delayed.

We love dogs, but our alpacas do not, so we ask that you leave your dogs at home when you come to visit. Our livestock guardian dogs have a job to keep all other dogs out of the alpaca pastures and they take this job quite seriously.

Frequently asked Question: “My kids saw the alpacas on TV and just want to come and pet them. Is this OK?”

The truth is that most alpacas do not like to be petted. Some will stand still for it, most will not. We do not allow our younger visitors to chase the alpacas in order to touch them. We have created a safe environment for the alpacas here and we believe that the way to keep them healthy is to minimize stress. Thank you for understanding.
