Wednesday, May 14, 2025 It’s been a minute! Recovery from pneumonia took longer than I expected but as of early May, I think I can say I’m healed.
Now I’m realizing how much time I need to spend weeding, planting and watering to keep this beautiful property looking as wonderful as it does. Ha, it’s all good, I’m happy for the work. I’m watching my dear old friends prepare for and work through their shearing day routines and I’m grateful all I have to do now is pull weeds. I do miss the alpacas and those precious big white dogs, but I’m glad my shearing events are behind me.
Earlier this month, I had an alpaca friend call me for help with a stillborn cria. Such a sad event but it’s part of the business as you know if you followed me for any length of time. I was glad to share my experiences and how to help the mom deal with her grieving. My brain is still taken up by at least 85% alpaca facts and experiences.
And just to be sure I don’t get stale, I took a pottery class! It’s something I have dreamed about doing for many years and I was thrilled to find a local class available. With only three of us in the class, I got plenty of help from a very experienced instructor. He said it seemed like I had done it before, and I told him yes I have, but only in my dreams. We’ll see where this new adventure takes me.
The hummingbirds have found me here and I’m so happy to see them. I have several feeders around the house and I am refilling them more often than I ever needed to in Woodland. Yay for hungry Hummers.
Update on the website etc. I’m trying to find a buyer for my domain name, I own bluemoonranch.net until August and I hope I can find someone who has a blue moon ranch somewhere in the world who would like to purchase that domain. I have downloaded the site entirely so could plug it into something else if I found more reasonable host. But I’m honestly not sure I have the need for a website at this time. I have a love-hate relationship with Facebook but I do have more than 3000 followers on the business page and 1000 followers on my personal page so I can reach out there if I have to. I’ve realized that my spam folder is filled up every morning with emails that all go to linda@bluemoonranch.net so I’ll be glad to let that email address go. If you need to keep in touch with me, make sure you use one of my other emails. As I mentioned before, please feel free to sign up for the newsletter that will soon replace these blog posts. (at the end of this post)
It looks like we will have family visits in July and August and I can’t wait for that. I hope we will be able to do some exploring in June. I almost had a dog sitter lined up, but our meet and greet was scheduled for the weekend I ended up in the hospital so we need to get that rescheduled. Then we can take the dogs with us or leave them home depending on the trip details. We just had a wonderful visit from our daughter who enjoys driving here from Utah. We enjoyed a very sweet Mother’s Day together.
All in all, life is good. I’m grateful that we’ve both returned to good health and I hope to keep it that way! Life in New Mexico suits as well. With abundant sunshine, amazing food and a friendly diverse population, we’re thriving. The news is as horrid here as it is anywhere in the USA, but we find ourselves surrounded by more like minded people here than we did in Utah. Still, we do miss our treasured Utah friends.
Be well friends, I’m happy we can still connect. Enjoy the photos and as always thanks for checking in.
Photos: Peonies do so well here.
Sweet William in the front yard.
Roses everywhere!
Columbine!
Most fragrant lilacs I’ve ever smelled.
Who doesn’t love a happy hummer?
I made these! I’ll get them back in a week or so after they come out of the kiln. What fun!
And for those who read to the end here’s a little video of life around our Casa.

It’s so great to hear from you again! Your Peonies look ah-mazing. My dear grandmother would be sooo jealous! I wish I had the bandwidth to be ‘retired’, but I found that if I do not have a place to go each day, I lose my mind – LOL
Thanks for all the beautiful energy you send in your emails.
Linda
Great to hear from you too Sunny! We tried to grow one peony in Woodland but it just struggled. It’s simply amazing to see them popping with new colors every morning here.
Take care. xo
