Hold on to what is good!

Monday January 20, 2025   Happy MLK day! “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Martin Luther King Jr.  Hold on to what is good my friends. It’s going to be hard for a while.

I’m going along with the “Lights Out Meta” movement. I’ve decided to be more careful what I feed my brain and a social media format that has no fact checking doesn’t exactly fit for me. Facebook and Instagram can be addictive so it’s a good exercise to distance from them when you can. If you can’t do a week, try a day. I have joined Bluesky and so far I like it. You can find me there as @bluemoonyaya.bsky.social  Search for topics or people who interest you, stay connected as much or a little as you like. No ads. I might check in on Facebook after the week is over, but for now I’m finding myself outside more, reading more and spending more time in my fiber room more. All good! One doll completed, another one is getting close.

We chuckle as we see “extreme cold warning” here where the temps are nowhere even close to the extreme cold we left behind in Utah. It’s all relative I guess. We did see a bit of snow last week, which is fine since it rarely sticks to the ground. Yes, it IS cold here, and were are enjoying fires in the evening but I’m not missing the anxiety I felt for my animals every bitterly cold below zero night in Woodland. We do have some rather tropical type plants in the gardens and I do hope they survive this cold spell.

Have you picked a word for the year? It’s not too late you know. Not a resolution, but rather in intention that can help put your year into focus. This year I chose “Explore”. There is so much to explore in our new state it seemed appropriate. I’ll share the adventures here.

It’s quiet again at La Casa after our youngest kids left this weekend. Such a sweet visit. Our youngest grandson just learned to crawl and had a ball exploring all over and meeting the dogs on their level!  They stayed to celebrate Farmer Ed’s birthday and a good time was had by all.

Take care of yourselves and as always, thanks for checking in.

Her name is Rosemary and my local rosemary plant clippings fill the medicine bundle that’s buried deep inside her.   She also carries some in her magic bag and if you want to smell it, just give it a little squeeze. The Rosemary plant in front of the house will provide me with that sweet smelling herb for ages. She has a strong connection to her ancestors and tells their story to all who will listen.  When I have a few more dolls done I will reopen the store and she will be offered to a new keeper.

Our pups were so patient with the baby!  Cuties!

Such a cutie!

Happy Birthday to Ed!
