Fall in New Mexico! 🌶️

posted in: Uncategorized | 4

Monday October 21, 2024  Hey friends! How are you? Thought I’d pop in with an update from New Mexico. We’re reading about the early snow in Utah and on that same day I was still enjoying the pool here. Neighbors tell us it might snow here this winter, but that it all melts by noon. Now that’s the kind of snow we can handle! I do believe if you want to visit New Mexico, fall is the perfect time to plan to do it. Leaves are changing color, temps are mild and the vibrancy of the local culture is everywhere.

Are we totally unpacked?  lol, not quite, but getting closer. I found a work table for my fiber room at an auction yesterday and can’t wait to start on my dolls again. I’ll also start making my alpaca hats again now that the weather is finally cooler. I’m so grateful not to be in a cold garage this year!  Yes, I called it my “studio” but in reality it was in the garage.

It seems that I attract black cats.  As you might remember, Toothless showed up last winter and is now a farm mascot for the horse rescue in Woodland!  Well another black beauty found me here. I watch him (or her) on the security cams every night and he really likes sleeping on the front porch. He doesn’t run away in fear when I approach, but he also isn’t ready to let me touch him. Patience. It almost always works, and I have lots of it.

Belle and Banjo still don’t like cats, but they do like their new home. They don’t get to be in the front yard without us, so the cats are safe when they visit. I don’t feed the cats here, although I do send a chewy box every month of canned food back to the Woodland cats. The cats here seem plump enough so I’m sure someone somewhere is feeding them. Or perhaps they are really good hunters. It all works out. Cat Karma?

My sister, my daughter and myself often took an annual pilgrimage to Santa Fe in the fall and it’s happening again this year.  The difference is we don’t have to pay for an airbnb because I live here!! #grateful It will be so good to have them here.

Once again I thank those of you who still check in here! Drop a comment below if you have time!  Cheers!

My new black cat friend likes the porch too.

Belle and Banjo have plenty of spaces where the cats do not hang out. (while they wait for us to throw the ball)

Belle likes to pose in the mums.  The property has a well with drip irrigation so things stay pretty green here!

Can you see our new neighbor peeking over the wall?

Here is a close up. Is he drooling over our peach trees?

We had our first big rain since we moved here and it was so refreshing. I love these rain chains.

Be well, thanks again for visiting!

What a nice post! I’m so happy for you and Ed. Such a lovely place in all it’s southwestern color! The pups look very settled in! If Mr. Blackity is smart he will make a friend of you, for he won’t be sorry! Your tall, curious neighbor made me smile from ear to ear! Thanks for the update and beautiful photos! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
