Friday June 7, 2024 Last week, I had to face some things I’ve been avoiding. Starting with my vet supply cupboard. ugh. After the alpacas left, my heart was not able to handle a lot of the “clean up”. Honestly, the barn is still waiting for my attention. And I’ll get to it. I guess I thought if I could look at the “stuff” I could pretend the animals were still here.
Over 25 years I collected a bit of vet items that allowed me to handle most issues right here without calling my vet. Feeding tubes, dosing syringes, vet wrap and so. much. more! I called an old alpaca friend (she’s not old, but we do go wayyyy back) and asked if she’d like to be the new owner of the Blue Moon supply cabinet, she said yes and I then had motivation to get ‘er done. I delivered the goods yesterday and best of all got to visit with her alpacas. I even got to see one of Romulus’s babies.
Next challenge I need to face is rehoming the barn cats. Especially Toothless. 😭 I’m not ready for that yet, but I know it’s coming. To be continued…..
So I have an empty vet cabinet and that seems OK. They say a heat wave is coming. But I realized some thing yesterday. I don’t get over heated when I’m not hauling hay in the afternoons! The house stays pretty cool with the 12 inch logs for insulation. We rarely need A/C. Just open a window at night and we’re good. Much to be grateful for. As always, thanks for checking in.
Photos of the day: This boy definitely posed for me! The reddish brown boy in the background is a Romulus boy. See that “bean pile” to the left? I actually miss that smell. 😂
I always thought Toothless might be happier in a home and closer to his people. Our dogs won’t allow that here. He is the sweetest!

Awww. Remembering passing along my horse’s cabinet after he died. Like you, it was a way of keeping that connection. I still have some things stored in my basement…

It’s never easy is it? Thanks for your comment Gigi.

Normally, I’d jump at a chance to adopt a black kitten and especially one that adopted you and Ed for his people. Smart kitten. I’m down to 8 cats now and I won’t tell you how many I had when I moved to a house in West Jordan in 2008. Some were outside cats, well protected from roaming the neighborhood. But my hubby would not be happy with me. They are from 2006 & 2007 to the last three from our feral colony that were born in 2015. If I had a farm, I’d adopt all of your barn cats. I know that everything will work out and you’ll find great homes for them.

Oh Sharon, if you change your mind on Toothless, do let me know. He is the sweetest boy and loves everyone – all the other cats too. I’d be so happy to have him go to someone I know.
