BFFs

Thursday, May 30, 2024   When looking for new homes, I loved it when we found a possibility with a small barn or shed and some fenced off area for livestock.  My love for animals is bigger than life and I knew I’d fill that space with some creatures who needed a new home pretty quickly. Miniature donkeys?  Maybe a few aging horses who needed a retirement home? Well, the home we hope to close on in July has no barn, no pastures. And I realized that maybe that is what’s best for us at this stage. I’ve found a few rescue organizations in NM that might like an experienced volunteer and that is how I’ll get my big animal fix. But I’ll also be able to travel to see all my grandkids when I want to, not stress about finding a large animal vet and leave the animal feed bills behind me. I’ve paid dues in the livestock owners club for enough years to know that it’s not the easy life we sometimes make it out to be!

Let’s not forget I do have 2 sweet puppies to keep me on my toes! I will never be dogless, and for now these two fill my heart. It helps that they are BFFs and always have each other. Maybe we’ll find a shelter pup in NM who would like to join our tribe, but for now I am content and so are they.

It’s finally warming up here! I’ve always said June is the most beautiful month of the year in Woodland and this year will be no exception. I’m grateful to be here and as always, thanks for checking in.
