Monday February 5, 2024 I keep reminding Farmer Ed that winter can still show up and wallop us, but so far I must admit things have been reasonably mild. Winter of 2023 didn’t let go until late April and February was the most challenging of all. I have said many times that the winter of 2023 broke me, but also opened my eyes to the fact that farming in our 70’s might not be the best choice for us. So far I’ve been able to keep a few gates open here so far and that feels good.
I still miss the alpacas and dogs horribly but I’ve taken a few online classes and I’m getting inspiration for what is next. I’ve been grieving and healing at my own pace and I know there is no one but me who can make things better. I’ve always been a loner and I’m grateful for family and friends who are giving me space to figure this next phase out.
My studio (AKA the garage) has been too cold for me to spend much time out there with spirit dolls or other fibery pursuits but it will happen soon enough. We’re planning a “clearing out” sale for the spring to move a lot of inventory that is left in the yarn barn as well as alpaca stuff, books etc we don’t plan to use. Will it be on line or in person? We’re still deciding, maybe both.
Stay warm and thanks for checking in.
Photos of the day: Last year February was quite brutal.
So far, this February has been lovely. My winter walk yesterday. (I do know there is much of February left!)
