Wednesday August 30, 2023 A super Blue Moon seems like a good time to drop in with some updates. The gentle boy was here for a week and we made more memories of course. He is handling the big change better than I am. He even volunteered to come help get all the alpacas in the trailer on the day they leave. I don’t even know how I will cope. I need to learn from this amazing boy.
Also I have returned to the dollmaking table. It feels good to be there. I have some hag stones from a beach in Florida and they have inspired me to start a new collection of crone dolls. A Hag Stone, also known as an adder stone, is a stone that has a naturally occurring hole through it. Such stones were, and sometimes still are, believed to have magical properties. Seems just the thing for a spirit doll to wear round her neck. I also love working with the alpaca fiber and knowing I will always have alpaca fiber to work with. I also found some glass eyes of the perfect size for my dolls and OMG do they seem lifelike! They cost a bit more than the felted eyes I usually make, but it really makes them feel alive to me. The plan is to have this new doll and some of her friends in the online store next Sunday.
