Sunday, July 9, 2023 It’s been a rough week for the pups. Fireworks started in the neighborhood on July 2 and we had another unexpected display last night. I did give calming chews and CBD oil on the 4th, but I don’t want to keep the dogs dulled down for that many days. The other thing is, the herbs or oil need to be given before the dogs are in full blown panic mode and often our neighbors can’t wait and start the bombing at 6 pm. I’ve been spending long nights in the barn trying to calm Blue especially. Poor guy just can’t handle it. Hoping for a quieter week next week. 🙏
How do the alpaca react to fireworks? They don’t like them much either, but they aren’t as panicked as the dogs thank goodness. They do come to the barn for cover, but seem to recover once the noise stops.
