Monday, June 12, 2023 Details of shearing day are still swirling in my head and one amazing thing that happened wasn’t even about the alpacas! Blue got a haircut too! When we got started shearing, he was busy eating alpaca toenails as they were clipped and tossed (gross, right? But think of it as giving your dog a high protein chew stick) Anyway after he got a belly full of toenails he felt the need for a good nap and a belly rub. Blue never gives up his belly, but as he did we could see all the mats left from winter and we took advantage of his “toenail coma” and started clipping them. Then I got my cordless clippers for my dear friend Meggan who clipped and cut away all those nasty mats! He does let me comb out his body but he’s very protective of his belly and his “man parts”. But somehow Meggan had the magic touch and combined with the noise of the alpaca shearing clippers, he just zoned out and let it happen. What a bonus! Thanks Meg!
Blue is feeling better than ever, all the toenails he ate have digested and he’s almost running as fast as Juno now. Happy Monday!
