Tuesday, March 28, 2023 How have the barn cats been handling this winter that won’t end? Just fine, really. Their bodies are light enough that they have been able to walk over the top of the snow without any worries of sinking. I see their foot prints every day so I know they get out when they want to. They travel to the hay barns looking for mice, but mostly they stay in the big barn, where they have a heated water bowl, plenty of food, and their warm beds. I see all 3 of them every day and tell them what a good job they are doing keeping the mice away. They chase the mice for fun, not because they’re starving. I’m sure they’ll be happy when they can roam the green pastures again but for now they are doing just fine. Happy Tuesday!
Photo of the day: Garbo is the boss of the trio. Bogart and Odin have total respect for this old gal.

Another wonderful method for keeping rodents under control would be to invite owls to your property. Barn owls are perfect for this and installing a barn owl box may attract the barn owls to your property. I say get ’em before they even get into the barn! The Utah Department of Wildlife Resources has info if you are interested!
