Monday, March 6, 2023 Hot wire fencing works well to keep dogs contained because they touch the wire with their sensitive noses when they try to climb over. They get a little shock and decide not to touch any white wire with their nose again. But when your fencing is only inches tall and they can step over ….well, the whole system falls apart. I’m grateful that we have a garage to keep the dogs in until things change. It’s far from ideal, but what else can we do. More snow over night is making it more challenging today but we will keep looking for things to be happy about. 😊 Have a good Monday!

And current situation with our disappearing fences.

What a challenge! We have what is called an Invisible Fence that is buried underground and sends a shock to the wearer of a companion receiver. It has worked well for the most part but isn’t perfect. We are dog-sitting our daughter’s doggo while she is in Arizona and Henri breached yesterday. We may need to extend the shock area. I think it’s set up at about 3 ft now. Will need to get the instructions out to see how to do that. We only have an acre to “fence in” so it is manageable. So far this morning, Henri is being a “good boy”.
Good luck, Linda and Farmer Ed! Life is sure interesting.

Good luck with Henri Gigi! I think our property is too large for invisible fencing. The amount of snow we have right now is unheard of and once we get control of that I think we’ll be OK. A few sunny days with no snow would be most welcome!

OH MY STARS! I can’t believe you have that much snow. Is this the most you’ve ever had since moving there? We only have about 3-4′ and it seems to melt off a little between storms. I’m still loving it because I’m hibernating. My fluffy darlings seem to be handling it well though. They’re all hunkered together in their warm little stables. Spring is just around the corner. Hang in there!

Oh Jen it’s just too much! And yes, it’s the most we have ever had since we’ve lived here for the past 20 years. I generally love winter with all it’s white beauty and stillness but this year has been more than a bit challenging.
PS I LOVE that you call them your fluffy darlings ❤️
