Saturday, January 28, 2023 Feeding the birds in winter is one way to enjoy a bit of nature even if you don’t get out to ski or snowshoe or feed alpacas. We’ve been feeding birds here for so many years, we have quite an assortment of feathered friends that come here to catch a meal. They know they can count on me to keep the feeders filled and we are rewarded with their cheerful presence. The photos from today are just a sampling of what I saw when I was out filling the feeder yesterday. We will see many more species throughout the winter and into spring.
How much snow do we have? A lot!!! And it’s still snowing. Life is good, drought be gone. Happy Saturday!
Photo of the day: Chickadee, House finch and Goldfinch share the feeder.
Chickadee takes off but will come back for more later
A shy scrub Jay waits his turn at the feeder.
This downy Woodpecker spend lots of time here.
Mourning doves gather under the feeder when the others are finished. The woodpecker is still feasting on something in the tree.
We’re glad you’re here, feathered friends.

When I lived in Timber Lakes my favorite thing was feeding the variety of birds that visited. My 2nd favorite thing was hiking around the mountain with my two dogs, Ruby and Rocky, and spotting Moose, Elk and Deer just off the road.
