Tuesday, December 20, 2022 No matter how busy I feel I am this week I must remember I am not outside training a new puppy like was last year at this time with Juno. Yay for that! We do what we have to do but holy moly I glad I’m not doing outside puppy training. Actually Blue did most of the training, but I needed to keep the alpacas from scaring her (they try that with puppies) and mostly I did lots of supervising to praise when things went right and gently correct when they didn’t. Guardian dogs are different from house dog companions in that they need to think independently, and that comes naturally to most of them. I never want to break that independent spirit with any training. If I have to wake up at 2 am to remind them to keep the cougars away from the pasture the whole system breaks down. But she learned her lessons well, and I can observe from the house while baking cookies this year. Happy Tuesday!
Photo of the Day: The sky was on fire this morning! Trees and lights blocking the full view because I wasn’t up for walking outside in bare feet. ha The girls got to enjoy some hay on top of the snow yesterday since we are between storms and they came out for an early morning nibble.
