Monday, November 21, 2022 With temps finally above freezing, it’s a good time to get caught up on barn cleaning. (the pastures are still snow covered so we’ll leave them be) I really don’t mind, there are absolutely zero flies out there and it’s good to be outdoors. Often by this time of the year I’ve transitioned to deep compost bedding, where we just cover the beans with leftover stemmy hay each night and it slowly composts while it makes a nice place to sleep. But this year the weather has been topsy turvy so I’ve decided to try to keep the barn floor clean for as long as I can. More of the girls are sleeping under the stars each night and until we get another big snow storm I can manage it. I can work at my own pace and the quiet of the barn is peaceful. I hope you enjoy your Monday as much as I’ll enjoy mine.
Photo of the Day: Well somebody’s got to do it. Might as well be me. 😁

So admire all the hard work and thoughtfulness that goes in to taking the very best care of your alpaca family….and all your other critters, too! The are all so lucky to have their safe and comfortable home! The love you show in their behalf is inspiring!

Thank you for your kind words Brenda. You put a smile on my face today. 😁

We had temps in the low teens this morning and the beans were pretty frozen! I was worried about my old guy who is 21, but he didn’t seem to be shivering and was eating his special grain with vigor. It’s moderating tomorrow, thank goodness. ‘Topsy turvy’ weather is right! 🙂

Oh yes the frozen beans of winter. They will win eventually and I will give up but for now I’m taking full advantage of temperatures above freezing! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
