Monday, October 17, 2022 It took me a while to develop an eye for black alpacas. Probably because so many of them are actually brown except for next to the skin. You see, the sun fades most fibers, black alpaca included. But then we have the beautiful non fading blacks and our Asia is a perfect example. In some lights she almost looks blue black. I’m always excited to open her bag of fleece after shearing and this year was no exception. Black from tip to tip. Her fleece this year was made into roving and I can just imagine some spinner making a delicate lace shawl. I will have bags of it ready for our Open Barn event on Nov 12, or send me an email if you want some now. $20 for a 4 ounce bag. Happy Monday!
