Saturday, August 28, 2022 We’re in for a way too hot week ahead and where is that fall weather we got a hint of a while ago? Ugh. The reason we like to shear in early June is so the animals are comfortable in the heat of July and August, but by now they’ve grown enough fleece that they can overheat if we’re not careful. The barn stays cool, we’ll have fans on and there’s always a dip in the creek to help but the humans who live here do much better with chores when it’s in the 50’s! Soon, right?
Today also is a big day for Gardner birthdays. My grandfather, Anton Gardner was born on this day in 1897, my baby brother David Gardner was born on this day in 1960 and my sister in law Lynn Gardner also shares the birthday. Many friends also share this birthday. Happy Day to you all!
Photo of the Day: Tidying up the barn yard after out tour yesterday. Much quieter than the mower.

You sound like me about ‘where is Fall!!’. We’re supposed to be hot and humid tomorrow and Tuesday and maybe Wednesday too. Geesh, enough already. But Fall’s coming, so I hope you can stay as cool as possible this upcoming week. Guess we can’t put away the summer clothes just yet… You have a creek for your alpacas and we still have the hose out for ours. I’m sure they all are wishing for Fall coolness too.

The sun at 6500 feet is pretty intense and humidity or not it’s hard to be out in it. If we all stay in the shade I suppose we’ll make it to fall. Dreaming of the first snowfall here! ❄️
