Wednesday, August 10, 2022 Was it the almost full moon or the overflow excitement from Juno’s birthday or a cougar wandering too close to the property? Whatever it was the dogs did not sleep much last night with all that barking! I got up occasionally to check on the cams and the alpacas in view seemed calm so I tried to get back to sleep. <yawn>
We did have an encounter with “something” the night before all the kids left. My son went out to retrieve his daughter’s shoes from one of the bridges over the creek and was met by 2 large beady eyes and lots of hissing. He jumped in his car to use the headlights to see more clearly what it was (and maybe protect his butt!) and it was gone. But I saw it the next morning walking across the same bridge – it was NOT a racoon and I only saw the rear of it. (big grayish brown & slow moving) I went in to grab a broom (should it attack me I guess I felt a broom was gonna save me lol) and it was gone again. I set up the trail cam to watch that bridge and so far no sightings. I’ll be anxious to check it today!
Juno did have a fun birthday yesterday with lots of attention and 3 “new to her” toys. We recycle dog toys here and the scent of the previous owners makes them more fun for the new owner. She was quite happy.
Photo of the Day: I think she loved her birthday presents, don’t you?

What a happy face on Juno! I’m hoping you see what the ‘beady eyed’ critter is out there. Your son was smart to hop back into his car! Scary, and a hiss. Please keep us updated on the mystery. 🙂

She was so happy! I waited until Blue was busy somewhere else so she wouldn’t have to share right away. I knew he would eventually take at least one , but giving her three assured that she would always have one for herself. It worked and she knew it.
I’ll definitely let you know what the creature is when we solve the mystery. 👀
