Tuesday, June 28, 2022 I know of old farmers who will not feed barn cats. “If ya feed ’em, they won’t catch mice” they say. Nonsense I say. We do feed our barn cats of course and they get a mix of wet, dry and raw food. They also catch mice for fun and leave them all over as little presents for me. eeewww I have occasionally seen them eat some of what they kill, but It seems they prefer to have me bring them their food. (Just like every other animal here lol). The raw dog food I feed is also appropriate for cats but they usually turn their noses up at it. Well yesterday Bogart decided he wanted some of Juno’s food while she was eating. What???? And the strange thing was, she backed away, let him eat a bit and then finished her meal licking the bowl clean. Talk about cooperation! They know the rule here is we all get along. Good job you two.

I love mousie presents. (not) And my cats live indoors but find mice in the cellar. Juno is a sweetie. LGDs are so protective that they even give up their food. So sweet.

Thanks Lana, Juno is a sweetheart for sure. Our LGDs have always protected our barn cats but this is the first time I’ve ever seen one willing to share food!
