Friday, April 1, 2022 Haha, I know it’s April Fool’s Day but things are crazy enough in this world without pranks from me so just beware of other jokesters today.
Instead I’ll share with you the story of my favorite blue Heron. The photo of the day was taken in 2017 and I shared it on Facebook. Lucky for me Facebook does a pretty good job saving my best “memories”. This one appeared yesterday: From March 31, 2017 “Whenever I leave the ranch, I drive past an open area with ponds. Many birds love this area of course, Canada Geese, Mallard Ducks, occasionally a flock of pelicans and many smaller songbirds. But one mysterious Blue Heron has captured my attention. Perhaps because my dear dad loved Blue Herons so much, when I see this particular heron it reminds me of him. I don’t always see him, but when I do it makes my heart happy. He appeared yesterday on a cloudy day so I couldn’t capture his colors but I love how he perched atop the craggy old pine and made such a beautiful spectacle for me to enjoy. I hope you enjoy it too.”
And I’ll tell you something else – 5 years later I still that that heron most days! It always brings a smile to my face when I see him flying gracefully right over my head.
Happy Friday!
