Wednesday, February 23, 2022 It’s currently 2° as I type with more snow predicted for today. No problemo. And as I said before – no flies either. OK, maybe it’s time to share with you my fly trauma. Years ago we had an alpaca baby who needed bottle feeding when his mom just couldn’t make enough milk for him. But he didn’t think he needed a bottle and neither did his mom. ugh. The fact that he was losing weight every day didn’t concern either of them. So catching him and getting the nipple in his mouth was a challenge 4 times every day. One hot summer day he was easy to catch because he was becoming lethargic – still a struggle with the nipple (yes i did try different nipples) and I finally got it in his mouth, and he started to suck. Success! And before he even drank 1/4 of the bottle the flies came. First they were all over my arms, attracted to the formula and then they were all over my face and crawling in every place they might find moisture – my eyes, my nose, you get the picture. But I would not let go of the baby or that bottle and it was definitely a 2 handed job. ugh. So the baby got his bottle, and I went into the house for s shower but the memories of that day still make me appreciate a good snowy cold day in a way that most folks never will. I’ve also long thought that if you live in a log home, it looks best with snow falling! Happy Wednesday.
Photo of the Day: Can you see the 2 dogs lying in the snow? The house dogs like winter too.
