Friday, January 28, 2022 How cold is too cold? It’s 3° below zero on my thermometer even though my weather app says it’s 11° here. We live in a bit of a low spot and our temps are often much lower that any just around us. Lovely in the summer but a challenge in the winter. But I still feel OK letting the animals choose where they sleep. And some chose to sleep outside last night. There was no wind and they seemed quite comfortable. The only time I close them in the barn is the day before shearing or if there is a newborn who needs to be monitored. To help on these coldest nights we have warm water available, all hay feeders are filled and access to the barn is easy for all who choose it. Blue and Juno choose the area just outside the big door in the girls barn so they are not on the snow but ready to go into action at a moments notice. All in all this group thrives in winter and single digits below zero is not a problem at all. Stay warm wherever you are and happy Friday!
