Welcome Juno!

Monday, December 13, 2021  My usual morning routine is check animals, make coffee, do a blog post. But not with a new puppy in the barn!  Coffee after puppy chores and blog as soon as possible is my new routine. lol

She is doing amazingly well. Considering all the changes she went through in 24 hours I am extremely impressed. She acts like a fully trained by livestock guardian dog around the alpacas – at 4 months old!  She ignores them, but watches them. And never once tried to play with them. Her mom taught her how to act around goats and apparently she really paid attention to the lessons!  The alpacas were of course not thrilled with the idea at first but once they got a feel for her temperament, they came into the barn and seemed OK around her. This is so much better than when Blue first arrived. Now at almost 2, Blue is an outstanding livestock guardian dog, but he was not raised with live stock and holy moly it showed those first few weeks. He was on a leash for 4 weeks after he arrived until I could convince him how to act around alpacas and Juno was off leash in the barn already this morning. She has her own pen and she likes to be in there and is not interested in getting in the middle of the alpacas at all.  She definitely likes Blue!  He’s acting a little more aloof than i expected but they did play a bit this morning.  So cute.

Juno does not like snow.  She was an Arizona girl until yesterday so it makes sense. She says, the barn is fine, no need to freeze my feet off out there!  I did get her to run around outside a little bit this morning. Baby steps. So many changes in her little life.  You might be getting tired of Juno photos and stories soon!  Happy Monday!

Photos of the Day:  First greeting

You got another what????   ~the alpacas

Isn’t she sweet?

Of course the gentle boy was here to make her feel welcome.

Blue thanked the breeder for making the long trip.

Blue is not a solo dog any more  ❤️

What a darling addition to the ranch! I hope that all continues to go well with her acclimation.
Puppies are so fun (and a ton of work!) We got a sheepadoodle (Old English Sheepdog/Poodle) pup in October and she is keeping me on my toes. She’s an inside dog and I told Santa that all I want for Christmas is her sharp baby teeth to fall out. Lol

Thanks Jen! Oh those baby teeth are like little sharks! Juno might have lost hers already, but she has not been mouthy at all so far. Glad you have a new pup to keep you busy. 🙂

The gentle boy looks happy to see Juno! And of course the alpacas are curious. Can’t wait to see how she trains.
